Everyone was tired of listening to me so I started a blog.

There was a girl in my Sex and Modern Love class that kept mentioning that she had a website where she talks about all the things she's interested in and I was jealous so I made one too. My name is Polina and I am a second year Sociology major with a minor in Math. My journey to my current major/minor combination has been a result of many restless nights that consist of "what am I going to do with my life, I just like talking about people". I started out my college career as a business major which was my attempt to change the world by being a non-exploiting capitalist. That failed after my first couple business courses. To balance out those courses I decided to take a Women's Gender Studies class. I began the course with a middle aged graduate student who would give us reading and then write various vocabulary on the board, and we would be considered lucky if he showed up to class at all. Sitting in that class became literally the most depressing time of my life. Not literally. But during that hour and twenty minutes it sure did. I'm dramatic. After the department became aware, he got replaced with a different professor. She was really extraordinary and actually engaging. Since this class was based around social issues you would think it requires conversation? Well, it finally did. We talked about sex, slut shaming, gender, race, etc. There was so much to talk about. I felt like there wasn't enough time in the day. I would come back from class and tell my boyfriend all the things I learned and what I'm thinking about. At some point early in my spring semester it kind of hit me that I kind of love this stuff.
So why Sociology and not Women's Gender Studies? Well, I don't want to be so limited. I have taken a sociology course before and I knew the organization of the subject. I liked to have the freedom to talk about not only sex and gender but also race and class. As difficult and confusing that they are, I love the theories. Why math? Because I'm a freak who like's math and it keeps me sane with concrete answers in contrast to Sociology where there is never one answer.
What will I write about? Anything that comes to my mind that has to do with sex, whether it be physical or social. Also, any kind of other fun exciting stuff going on in the realm of Sociology! I'm not expecting many readers, but if anyone has questions then I'll address those as well! Even if I don't know the answer, I will do my very best to research as accurately as possible the answer for you. I am all about  that education, there is nothing sexier than knowledge.
