Who is real un-american here?

I am seriously so over talking about Miss America, she's a beautiful woman who participated in a competition and won, awesome. Its sad that people racially profiled her as an Arab woman (even if she happened to be of Arab decent, who cares) when she's actually Indian. But that is all mere ignorance that nothing can help. What I want to talk about is how the US is reacting to her win and what implications that has for US xenophobia, and fear of anything non-white in general.

The dictionary definition of American is: a native or citizen of the United States. Nine Davuluri was born in New York and went to University of Michigan. Just a heads up on my own personal history, I have been in the US for 12 years now and am in the process of getting my official citizenship, I am also categorized as white. If I had won Miss America, or someone more qualified in beauty and poise than me, but had my "American" credentials, there would be no back lash. Even though, she is essentially more American than I am. The only things that differentiate us the the color of our skin. We tend to preach that we are the melting pot, but when it becomes reality we retaliate. The image of an American is not one of a 1800's white person, we are now integrated with almost literally every other culture in the world. The most American thing there is IS believing that anyone can come to this country and make a life for themselves. Nina's parents did that, they are both contributing members of our society. Her father is a doctor (a gynecologist, hell yeah) and her mother is a software engineer. Nina earned her right as being an American by being born on American soil to American parents.
What I'm saying is: shame on you, teens of twitter. Learn your history and your country's constitution. Even though your right was also earned by birth, you are behaving like a true un-American.
